From Albert I to Albert II

2010-06-21 16:06

From Albert I to Albert II  by Tuna Aksoy Köprülü
Published by Epi Editions in French and English
192 pages, €60

This new book presents a fresh look at the house of Grimaldi through a joint portrait of two prince Alberts, the first and second of that name, whose reigns both provide examples of openness, modernity and a passion for the environment.

A century separates the princes, but the concerns and interests of both remain the same.

Produced with the support of the Prince Albert II Foundation, the book is illustrated with 250 archive photos, most of them never before published , with a text by Madame Tuna Aksoy Köprülü, Consul of Monaco in Istanbul, who has also written "Mémoires de la Maison Blanche" (2 volumes), "Istanbul, Capitale des Cultures" et "Les Palais étrangers d’Istanbul".

The inspiration for this work, says Mme Köprülü, was the 38th Conferenceof the CIESM (Commission for the Scientific Exploration of the Mediterranean) in Istanbul in April 2007. 'I was fascinated by Prince Albert's address about the organization, which had been founded in 1910 by his great-grandfather', she says

The handsome new volume is available in bookshops from 16 December, and Mme Köprülü will be signing copies of the book at FNAC in Monaco, on Thursday 17 December from 4-7pm
