This August, Opera Les Azuriales will be performing once more in the
spectacular setting of the Villa
Ephrussi de Rothschild, Saint Jean Cap Ferrat, one of
the architectural jewels of the Mediterranean coast. In this Glyndebourne of the South of France, you are invited to experience some of the greatest
operatic music ever written, to wander the exquisite gardens, and to enjoy a romantic dinner (provided by Receptions Fauchon)
in the beautiful surroundings of the villa.
Among this year's highlights are Verdi's Rigoletto, Donizetti's comedy La Fille du Régiment and Jules Massenet's take on the tragic tale of young Werther, the protagonist of Goethe's story.
As always, the opera season is accompanied by an opera masterclass at the nearby Villa Kerylos and a soloists' concert. In addition, for this, the 15th anniversary of Opera 'Les Az', there will be a glamorous final concert in the style of London's famous 'Last Nght of the Proms'.
About Opera Les Azuriales
We make opera engaging and accessible. Each night we give every one of our 200 guests an unforgettable evening of opera in a fairytale setting. Our venue gives an immediate connection between performers and audience that is rare in an opera house.
The covered patio of the magnificent Belle Époque Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild provides the most intimate space for a fully-staged opera performed in the round. You are drawn into the heart of the performance, experiencing a thrillingly personal encounter with the operatic voice. Singing of exceptional quality and verve in the original language is made fully accessible by English and French surtitles.
The magic continues after some performances when the artists join you for dinner under the stars, in the magnificent gardens. The evening is like a modern equivalent of an 18th century soirée which is how the Villa was originally intended to be used by Baroness Ephrussi.
