A total of 300 lots - including many paintings by well-known artists, items of jewellery, fine wines and objets d'art - are to be auctioned at the Hôtel de Paris on Saturday 6 August.
An allegorical statue in Carrara marble, 'Innocence' (Lot 101) by Florentine artist
Luigi Bienaime - who made his name working for Tsar Nicholas I - is one of the most highly-valued items, expected to fetch between €250,000 and €265,000; while a Madonna and Child (Lot 91) painted by the celebrated
Bernardo Strozzi in the early 1600s will most likely realise its top price of €300,000.
A number of drawings by
Gustav Klimt and
Jean Cocteau are in the catalogue, as is a pencil and crayon work by
Joan Miró, 'Femme et oiseaux dans la nuit' (Lot 81) valued at €120,000.
Among the rare objets d'art, as well as several notable pieces by
Hermès and
Cartier, is a pair of silver candlesticks from Birmingham dated 1874, with a high-end estimate of €36,000, and an exceptional diamond and ruby necklace, bracelet and ear-rings (lot 251), estimated at €200,000.
There are many good wines, including a 1998 Mouton Rothschild, and a case of 2000
Château Cheval Blanc 1er Grand Cru Classé A, valued at €10-12,000.
For those with an eye on local interest, the best-looking buy is a dramatic view of the
port of Monaco by the Belgian painter Alfred Stevens (1823-1906) (Lot 2). This colourful oil on canvas has a catalogue value of between €6000 and €7000.
