And You Shall Go to the Ball!

2011-11-03 12:40

What: Cendrillon (Cinderella)
Where: Grimaldi Forum
When: 6.30pm, Wednesday 23 November 2011 (1h15)
Tickets: €30 (€20 17-24yo / €10 up to 16yo)

This November, join all your favourite characters in the new musical comedy Cinderella! The Ugly Sisters, Baron Hardup, Buttons, Prince Charming and of course the Fairy Godmother are all set to light up the stage at the Grimaldi Forum's appropriately-named 'Salle des Princes'.

Created and directed by London producer Julius Green - who works with West End impresario Bll Kenwright - this is an evening for all the family, featuring some of today's aspiring young actors: Brooklyn-born Corbin Bleu, of High School Musical fame, plays the Prince; and British singer and actress Skylar Summer stars as the kitchen-maid who fulfils every girl's fantasy of dancing at the Ball. The show, billed as 'Cendrillon', is in French, but it's by-and-large a musical entertainment that should pose no problems at all for anglophones of any age!

For Skylar, 17, it's a big break into the showbiz world. The daughter of celebrity nutritionist Gilian McKeith, she's making a name for herself as a clear, strong-voiced star whose appearance in 'Cendrillon' is bound to be the first of many.

She will be supported by a cast of clowns, acrobats, stiltwalkers and dancers from London, and over 100 children from the Rosella Hightower Dance School in Cannes in this rumbustious and exuberantly funny parody based on the time-honoured tale of the girl whose dreams of romance are dashed by the sounding of the midnight bell. Will the Prince find his true love? There's only one way to find out!

As well as his stellar film and music career, Corbin Bleu is a frequent volunteer worker, supporting charities such as Starlight, and the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Appropriately, all benefits from this performance will go to the Monégasque Charity 'Les Enfants de Frankie', who help to support sick and underprivileged children of Monaco and the PACA Region.

As well as the evening gala performance (€10) there will be two free shows for children at 2 and 4 o'clock on the same day, 23 November.
