One of the most successful shows ever written is coming to Monaco from 15 to 20 June
Produced in over 25 countries, Fame the Musical is set in the High School of Performing Arts in New York, and tells of the dreams and ambitions of a group of teenage students as they progress from auditions to rehearsals to the reality of the performance itself.
The classic Romeo and Juliet story of young love is set against the whirling dynamic of the kids' lives - driven by their aspirations, they're alternately supported or knocked back by hopes, family, prejudice - and the sheer power of hormones. But it's that energy that sees them through to success.
With its powerfully-fuelled dancing and phenomenal choreography it's hardly surprising that Fame has achieved such heady success - and it has now set off on yet another international tour, bringing all the excitement and glamour of performance to a whole new audience.
The musical is based on Alan Parker's 1980 cult film of the same name. Nominated in six categories, the movie won two Oscars for best original score and best original song for 'Fame', which is the centrepiece of the show's fittingly spectacular finale. The film was developed as a highly successful TV series, and last year a fim re-make was released, though to less critical acclaim than the original.
This fantastic new stage production, featuring a cast of talented young actors from London's West End, will be opening for one week from 15 June at the Salle des Princes, with six evening performances and two matinées. If you've got any budding actors in the family, it's a perfect family show!
