Harley Davidson roars into life with €174,000 payout

For some, casinos are all about the swank and style of the roulette table. Others, however, still prefer to place their bets on the fruit machines - and those who do so are turning out to be rather lucky so far this year.
On Tuesday 19 January, for instance, the Harley Davidson progressive machine at the Cafe de Paris paid out a jackpot of €174,653. The same machine delivered a massive €336,532 in May and another €246,827 in October last year.
In fact the managers of the casino claim that the full range of machines - Wheels of Adventure, Video-Poker, Progressive Machines, Electronic Roulette and Multi-Games - has made their players €7,000,000 richer since the start of this year. That's the equivalent of €350,000 per day, by the way...
SBM, who run Monte Carlo's casinos, are pleased that their many new initiatives are paying off, including the new outdoor games room at the Cafe de Paris, and the glass MegaCube (familiar to anyone who remembers the UK TV challenge 'The Crystal Maze') in which players aim to snatch prize tokens from a whirlwind of tickets. Holidays, hotel breaks and fine dining are the lucrative prizes on offer.
One thing's for sure: if you enjoy a flutter, the evidence so far is that you don't have to be a card-sharp to win - just make sure that Lady Luck acccompanies you to the games room, and you may never have to worry about your bank balance again...
