2010-09-05 23:35
What: International Fireworks Competition
Where: Port Hercule
When: 9 July, 22 July, 13 Aug, 26 Aug
Admission: free
If you were in Monaco last November for the National Holiday, you will have seen an amazing firework display from French maestro Jacques Couturier, one of the world's leading pyrotechnics experts. His team beat off dozens of other competitors in the International Fireworks Competition, held the previous July here in the Principality.
More than thirty countries have already participated in this event which is one of the most popular events of the summer season, including Portugal and Austria (last year's runners up) Brazil, Canada, the USA, Japan, Mexico, and the UK.
This year, the hotly-contested competition takes place once again in the spectacular setting of Port Hercule, to decide who will be invited back to Monte Carlo for this year's National Day. Teams from all over the world will be taking part in what has become a real highlight of any summer visit to the Côte d'Azur.
