Singer Gloria Estefan will be the featured performer at the 2009 event marking the 61st anniversary of the Monaco branch of the charitable organization, founded in 1948 by H.S.H. Prince Louis II.
For over 30 years Gloria Estefan has combined pop, disco and salsa sounds for the pleasure of music lovers all over the world. Throughout her long career her Latino group, the "Gloria Estefan y Miami sound Machine", has kept up with changing trends in popular music and acquired an enormous following all over the Americas and Europe. Gloria Estefan's sensuous vocal style appeals to a wide range of audiences. Her recent album entitled "90 Millas", recorded in collaboration with a host of world-famous artists, sold over 90 million copies and won seven Grammy awards!
In keeping with the Miami Party and Latin Summer atmosphere surrounding the evening's Cuban guest artist, an orange carpet will be rolled out between two enormous basins to greet the arrival of the evening's guests at this highly prestigious charity event. Its unusual golden-streaked colour has been chosen to blend with the ballroom décor and table decorations.
The donation of a work of art to the Monaco Red Cross has become an annual tradition. This year's choice is "La Dama de las Cruces" by the Spanish sculptor Manolo Valdès. Erika Moulet and Sébastine Borgnat will be in charge of the charity raffle.
