Located on the harbour, facing the sea, the Brasserie de Monaco welcomes you to its brew-house and terrace. Enjoy a pint of organic Bière de Monaco, brewed on-site, in a chilled and festive atmosphere!

As this vintage poster shows, they've been making beer in Monaco for a surprisingly long time, but it's the new Brasserie de Monaco that's really put the Principality back on the map, with several of its brews winning prestigious international awards, and an enviable reputation as one of the centres of cool partying on the Riviera.

And during the Monaco Grand Prix, that means party time from 11pm to 5am every night - see calendar on left for details.

Unless you're a specialist beer drinker, you may not care about the precise differences between your average pint and a speciality beer, but the Brasserie will soon convert you. This place delights in combining the technical and pleasurable. Inside the modern bar-restaurant, you can't escape the machinery of the brewing process itself: as in several other modern micro-breweries, functioning stainless steel mash tuns are an unapologetic part of the decor, so you feel closer to the organic and technological processes at work in producing your favourite pint.

Four popular beers are now created here in a month-long process: a lager, a pale ale, a brown ale and a seasonal special. Again in the tradition of micro-breweries, they make use of locally-grown or locally-sourced ingredients, and the non-filtered, non-pasteurised approach makes for beers of an exceptional quality.

Large wooden tables with comfortable seating, a contemporary bar, large lounge, and giant screen complete the picture of a trendy spot for lunchtime or evening enjoyment. The Brasserie's location is accessible and classy - near to the open air swimming pool behind Port Hercule - and the excellent events calendar sees guest DJs joining the resident crew several times a month for partying till dawn.

The Brasserie was set up in 2005 with the encouragement of HSH Prince Albert II - who wished to revive the brewing tradition begun here exactly a century before by his great-grandfather - and has since become a major part of Monaco's day and night life. And for the real beer purists, you can have a full guided tour of the Brasserie, at €50 per person to include lunch and beer, or take one of the ten-minute tour-and-taste sessions at €10 per head. Reservations for both activities on +377 97 98 51 20
