Mmmmm... you can smell that freshly-baked fougasse all along the harbour. If you don't have time for a five course meal, or just want to grab a quick bite while enjoying the boats, visit our directory for the best cafes and snack joints on the coast.
And if, like Proust, you're a real coffee junkie (he used to drink seventeen cups before settling down to write 'Remembrance of Things Past'), there's a veritable treasure trove in store. Malongo was established in Nice over 70 years ago, and at their Cité du Café you'll find a museum displaying the world’s largest collection of coffee grinders - all 1600 of them...
These days, Monaco sets great store by environmental protection, and since this summer Malongo has partnered with the Cafe de Paris in Monte Carlo to produce a FairTrade blend - four-fifths Arabica / one-fifth Robusta - each and every cup of which contributes to sustainable development and living conditions for coffee producers in the southern hemisphere.
Essentially, though, coffee is all about the magic of the moment, as captured here by CityOut photographer Jilly Bennett
