The 16th Monte Carlo Gastronomy Fair opens its gates from 25 to 28 November in Fontvieille. This annual feast for the senses will this year be based around the theme of Chefs' Inspirations

If you're already preparing your shopping-list for the best of festive food and wine, there's no better place to find it than at the Monte Carlo Gastronomic Fair, with hundreds of stalls hosted by 150 restaurateurs, sommeliers and exhibitors from across the region.

The Monte Carlo Gastronomy Fair is a mouthwatering affair, where guests are invited to explore, sample and purchase the wonderful flavours and savours of traditional cuisine of all kinds. It's a gargantuan list: foie gras, caviar, salmon, deli meats, homemade preserves, truffles, farmhouse cheeses, tapenades and pestos; and if you still have room, a whole host of sweets, including preserves, candied fruit, macaroons, marrons glaces, fruit juices and exquisite Italian confectionery.

Wines are well represented from all regions of France and the world, including Burgundy, Côtes du Rhone, Beaujolais, Côtes d'Alsace, Bergerac, Italian, Chilean and Australian wines, whiskeys, armagnacs and champagnes.

As well as the regular exhibitors, on the opening day there will be special gastronomic presentations (details to follow). There are also several official prizes awarded during the extended weekend. The fun begins on 25 November, and although there is an entry fee at the weekend, if you turn up on a workday, you can enjoy this sensory feast for free!
