Joël Robuchon is the world's most starred Michelin chef, with an astounding 26 stars to his credit (his latest is for the
highly acclaimed Yoshi, also in the Metropole). But it was with the eponymous 'Joël Robuchon at the Metropole' that he really made his mark in Monaco when it opened in 2005.
Lunch starts at a modest €29, steppping up to €76 for all courses on the Club Menu, or you could try the Discovery Menu, a €180 selection of immaculately-presented amuses-bouches including caviar, foie gras, sea-bream and caramelized quail.
But if you want to experience genuine culinary wizardry, take a seat in the colonnaded dining room, beautifully decorated by Jacques Garcia. Here, at the exclusive ‘Table de Joël Robuchon’, you can watch head chef Christophe Cussac and his team preparing your meal at an open kitchen.
Recommended dishes include stuffed king crab or lobster ravioli with truffles, followed by citron sorbet with orange peel and strawberry or praline crunch with mascarpone sorbet.
Provencal wines from Chàteau Roubine excel here, and the Château Tour Seran 2003 Bordeaux is also highly recommended.
