More information and interactive maps for Mozza
Situated at the Larvotto end of Monte Carlo,
Mozza is an unpretentious Italian restaurant with excellent wines and superbly prepared food. The convivial atmosphere and friendly service makes this a definite place to come for pleasure or business, any day of the week. But in July and August, with the prospect of
fireworks on alternate Thursday and Friday nights, it's unbeatable. Once the waiter had peeled back the awning over the terrace, we felt like we had front row seats!
A crisp glass of ice cold prosecco provides just enough distraction from the mouthwatering selection of mozzarella, fine cut cured hams and traditional favourites on the well-balanced menu. We opted for the delicious, freshly-cut San Daniele ham and mixed mozzarella dish to share.
But it was the
burrata - blended mozarella and cream - which transported us nearly as high as the colourful explosions above (provided, last week, by the UK's Jubilee Fireworks).
For the main course, I chose the simply named 'fresh fish with rosemary skewers and vegetables' What I actually got was sweet, meaty prawns, delicate flakes of white fish and the most soft textured, bitey and full-flavoured octopus I've ever had the pleasure to meet.
For a very reasonably priced lunch, or a dinner with accompanying fireworks (both on and off the plate), Mozza is hard to beat.
Arguably one of the best pyrotechnics displays in the world, the International Fireworks Festival reaches its thrilling culmination on Thursday 26 August.
