Zelo's, Monaco (2)

Sipping a cool mojito on the terrace overlooking the even cooler blue of the Mediterranean, or gazing up at the glass atrium of the famous Grimaldi Forum, it's easy to imagine yourself as one of the attendants of Zeus, king of the ancient gods. Zelos, god of zeal, was one of them - and he strikes everyone who comes to this chic restaurant-bar-club with his infectious enthusiasm.
The chef even has the name of the mythical magus who conjured up Helen of Troy; and in his kitchen Ettore Fausti more than lives up to that name, producing from thin air a range of succulent dishes: Italian antipasti, fresh salmon and sea-bass cooked whole, and a superb magret de canard with figs marinated in black tea and new potatoes. And if you're at the Grimaldi Forum for the

exhibitions, this is the obvious choice for lunch: the menu includes
salad nicoise, mussels in white wine, oriental
chicken and to follow, Venezuelan chocolate cake with after-eight ice
cream. Mouthwatering stuff.
In the evenings, the electric blue becomes even more vivid for hours of entertainment through the night, as ecstatic rituals and dances take place in praise of Zelos. All of which begs one question. Who needs Olympus when you can have Monte Carlo?
