On the evening of the pubic wedding ceremony, Prince Albert and Princess Charlene will process to the church of Monaco's patron saint,
St Dévote, where the Princess will lay her wedding bouquet as a symbolic gesture of her union with the Monégasque people.
The placing of a bouquet is an ancient tradition for brides, and Princess Charlene will be following literally in the footsteps of
Princess Grace, who laid her own bouquet, of lily-of-the-valley, on the altar of the Chapel of Sainte Dévote after her 1956
wedding.
The good news for those members of the public unable to attend the
ceremony itself is that they will be able to congratulate the Princely
couple as they make their way along the processional route.
The procession will take in Avenue de la Porte-Neuve, Avenue du Port and Boulevard Albert I, returning to the Palace by the same route. Giant screens will be set up in the Principality in order to allow as many people to follow the religious ceremony and the couple
en route.
