Apart from poker, it’s arguable that Golf is the sport which made the Riviera famous. Royalty and nobility, politicians and presidents, professionals and occasional putters have all come to the Cote d’Azur especially to play the
game of kings.
Now, for the first time, the
Riviera Times is hosting a golf tournament, with a number of impressive prizes, to be played on Saturday 2 October at the
Saint Donat Golf Club. Designed by Robert Trent Jones, this 6000m, 18-hole par 71 course is well known for its gracious setting in a beautiful wooded landscape just south of Grasse.
The Riviera Times Golf Cup is open to everyone, whether expert or amateur. Starting at 9am with breakfast on the clubhouse terrace, participating players will have the opportunity for a practice session on the driving range before the tournament begins in earnest at 10.45.
The competition itself is based on a modified Texas Scramble format with teams of two (instead of the usual four) playing against each other: simply put, both members of the team tee off at the same hole, and the better shot is the one that continues to be played.
A buffet and well-earned refreshments starts at around 3.15pm on the terrace with prizegiving scheduled for 5pm.
Stunning Prizes
The major prizes for the first Riviera Times Golf Cup include:
• a weekend for two in the stunning five-star Turnberry Resort in Scotland
• a chance to take part in the Club Yachting Life Regatta
(offered by Cup sponsor
Dahm International)
• a night for two in the Boutique Hotel JK Place in Florence.
The all-in cost of €149 per person – payable at the time of booking - includes green fees, access to the driving range, breakfast, buffet and all drinks, along with a top-quality polo shirt embroidered with the Riviera Times Golf Cup logo.
