2010-01-17 18:50
Valberg – Alpes Maritimes, France
In the heart of the Mercantour National park at an altitude of 1700m, less than a hundred kilometres away from the coast, Valberg is a trendy resort with great sun and snow conditions.
Since the 1930s, the high pastureland of Valberg has grown to become an attractive and trendy destination offering amazing ski runs and other sports adventures for all ages. With over 115 km of ski pistes, Valberg offers a unique experience in stunning natural surroundings. The station has 53 pistes: 2 black, 27 red, 17 blue and 10 green, located between 1500m and 2100m, and over 22 state-of-the-art ski lifts to take you from one exciting run to another. You can also enjoy the up-to-the-minute snow park and luge track.
In addition there's a wide choice of alternative activities at this resort, which is also at the centre of a sustainable development programme: cross country skiing, frozen waterfall climbing, snow trekking, horse riding, snow squad, snow mobile and many more.
Off-ski, there's a vibrant sense of fun in the village's other amenities, which include a swimming pool, spas, and mediathèque. We found as many good terraced cafés as ski runs. Hotels, B&B’s and rentals are available throughout Valberg centre and vicinity, and the Tourist Office can guide you to find the best deal available. Here you can get a VIP card with numerous discounts and other advantages for all card holders. Most important of all, at €25 per person per year (or €75 Euros for a family of two adults and two children), this irresistible deal also enables holders to skip the queue at the ski lifts.
