Travel Market much more than Tourism

2009-12-28 11:22

Officially recognized as one of the leading exhibitions for prestige travel and all aspects of the luxury lifestyle, the 6th Monte Carlo Travel Market is almost upon us...

Where:
Grimaldi Forum Monte Carlo
When:
15-17 Jan 2010

It may be the middle of winter, but the canny traveller is already beginning to think of the long summer days and wondering how best to make use of them. If you are one of them, the Monte Carlo Travel Market may be just the place for you: prestige travel, dream destinations, beautiful spas, palaces, cruises, private jets, yachts, private luxury residences - they're all on display - and not only for travel agents, but you, the VIP traveller too, especially if you're thinking of Mexico.

This truly exotic country, at once seductive and bewildering, offers endless opportunities for anyone looking for an unforgettable experience. The Mexican tourist board, who are a prominent partner at the Travel Market, intend to win round the anticipated surge of visitors this year's Travel Market, which has just been awarded the accolade for one of the best travel markets in the world by the American Academy of Hospitality Services. Last year 14,300 visitors passsed through the doors of the Grimaldi Forum.

But as well as holidays, the three-day exhibition has everything to do with the 'art of living': supercars, interior design, exclusive watchmakers, vineyards, visionary designers, high-quality jewellery, as well as development projects. Examples of what will be on show include brand new 5* luxury hotels in the historic center of Rome and on the Turkish Riviera, yachting companies from Italy, Slovenia and Denmark, luxury Ferrari car tours, and ArteinMotion, a company that specializes in unusual furniture made from the bodies of historic aeroplanes, and modelled in wood and luxury leathers (see picture).

If your work or leisure time involves occasional flying, you may be interested in another of the exhibitors: Smart Air is the first European fractional ownership operator with the Diamond D-Jet, the latest in five-seater private jets.

This is just a fraction of what is on offer; the keywords are prestige, luxury, and the personal touch - many of the exhibits, including jewellery, watches and furniture are from companies specializing in bespoke services.
