1-2 May: 7th Historic Grand Prix (2)
2010-06-23 10:46
What: Historic Grand Prix
Where: Monaco
When: 1-2 May 2010
Every two years the Grand Prix of Monaco is joined by the Historic Grand prix - a celebration of grace and style, you might say, over simple speed and power - though some of these machines were powerful enough in their day.
The event, which takes place from 1-2 May, is dedicated to the finest and most powerful cars to have graced the history of motorsport. An additional buzz has been created by the announcement that this year, in place of the Formula Junior Race, there will be two courses of Formula 3.

Regarded as one of the most beautiful historic events on the circuit, (ranking with the Goodwood Revival Festival and the Le Mans Classic), the biennial Historic GP is the perfect curtainraiser for the actual Grand Prix which takes place on the same track 15 days later
All participants are placed in eight categories and events, based on the age of their vintage cars:

Only 250 of some 400 applicants have been selected by the committee of the Automobile Club de Monaco to race on the historic course, which, incidentally, is identical to the circuit used for the 68th Grand Prix only fifteen days later.
Outside the competition, two special events will be held: The Credit Suisse Classic Car Rally will see a procession of forty vintage cars on Saturday from 2pm, while luxury watchmakers Chopard will present 'Silver Arrows - Auto Union' on Sunday from 1.30-1.50pm
