Helicopter flights in Monaco and the Riviera
In many European countries, transport means buses, trains or trams. But here in Monaco the workhorse is the helicopter, especially if you need to get quickly and efficiently to and from Nice airport and the Alpine ski resorts. Before you faint, it's worth checking the prices - and you'll be in for a surprise:
Heliair, the main provider, will get you from direct from Nice airport to Monaco any day of the year in seven minutes flat. It costs just 105 euros per adult and 55 per child over 2 years old. Under-twos go free. Regular users of the service may wish to take out a block subscription which can reduce costs of individual flights by one-third.
Flights to the Alps take longer, usually between one and two hours. But what a breathtaking way to travel - after seeing the Alps from such a privileged position, skiing may seem a let-down!
For business conferences or family outings, consider chartering a private flight - from 700 euros per helicopter. Or you may want to take advantage of one of the many packages - consider this one, combining some of the finest opportunities Monaco can offer:
'Vols a la carte' takes you by helicopter to lunch at Chez Bruno's at Lorgue - the home of the truffle - or to his friend Alain Ducasse's Bastide de Moustiers for an unforgettable experience, then flies you back again. Alternatively, HeliAir will book a limousine to return you safe and sound in the evening after a late dinner. Packages are also available to weddings, golf courses, spas - the list is endless.
