Hodgdon to unveil Spielberg's custom limo tender and new 40m concept design
Steven Spielberg's 86m superyacht
Seven Seas is sure to be one of the great attractions at this year's Monaco Yacht Show. Constructed by Dutch shipbuilders Oceanco, the yacht has been designed with all of the luxuries one would associate with one of the world's greatest film directors. As well as a main salon equipped with a 5 x 2m screen and raked
seating allowing guests to view movies in comfort and style, the fifteen foot glass wall of the swimming pool also doubles as a cinema screen for relaxed night-time viewing. As well as this, the main deck has 250m of floor space for gala events and celebrity functions.
The
limo tenders specially commissioned for the yacht accommodate twelve guests in luxury leather
armchairs, with HD television systems and full air conditioning. They were created by Hodgdon Yachts of East Boothbay, Maine.
Founded in 1816, Hodgdon is America’s oldest boat builder. A fifth generation family-run company rooted in the local boatbuilding tradition, the shipyard's constant innovation has allowed it to maintain its position well into the 21st century. The company’s divisions now include high-end superyacht interiors (up to 80m), custom sail and power yacht construction (up to 60m), military contracting, refits, custom superyacht tenders and design and engineering services. Among some of Hodgdon’s more notable contributions to yachting in the last few decades have been the 124'
Antonisa, the 154'
Scheherezade and the 80'
Liberty.
Hodgdon and Michael Peters Yacht Design to unveil their new 40m motoryacht concept design at the 2011 Monaco Yacht Show
As well as the Seven Seas tenders, Hodgdon will also be unveiling a new concept yacht at this year's Monaco Yacht Show, produced in partnership with Michael Peters Yacht Design.

With its sleekly-styled raised pilothouse, this is a beautifully-equipped vessel with high specifications. Its comprehensive accommodation comprises one Master, one VIP, two Double Guest, one Captain's and three Double crew cabins. The main deck features a full-beam owner’s cabin with large en-suite head, private access to the foredeck owner’s amenity deck with jacuzzi and sunpad, galley, dining area and salon; and a guest lounge area, also with jacuzzi and sunpad.
The lower deck features a full-beam watertoy/tender bay aft, the engine room, a VIP stateroom with head and study, two double guest cabins with ensuite heads, crew galley, captain quarters and three double crew cabins; while the upper deck features the the raised pilothouse and flybridge with guest lounge area.
'The stimulus for the new yacht came from our admiration of a single line form, the silhouette of an early race boat', says designer Michael Peters, whose fundamental belief is that all design should exemplify the fusion of art and science. 'That cue drove the evolution of the aesthetic. For instance, a subtle but prominent design element, the after section bustle, complements the overall form, giving the design a unique, dramatic, and sexy character. In considering the range of amenities, the request for a raised pilothouse, often difficult to accommodate efficiently, allowed us to bring a sense of mysterious allure through a creative cantilever style'.
'It's the ultimate blend of form and function', adds Hodgdon’s CEO, Tim Hodgdon. 'Michael Peters and his team have an artist’s eye and a working knowledge of boatbuilding. They are an excellent complement to our engineering leadership and shipbuilding competence'
The unveiling for both boats (invitation only for press and VIPs) will be held at 5pm on Thursday 22 September at the Hodgdon Yachts stand
DG5.
