A hidden secret, very much the best Japanese deal in Monaco. With Japanese chef Hitoshi Chiba, you’re guaranteed a high quality, fresh fish. The lunchtime sushi or sashimi menu at €19 or €22 are a brilliant value for money option. The sashimi normally gives you 12 pieces, salmon, tuna, prawns, seabass, scallops – though it will change according to what’s in the market. Plus a small starter, miso soup and rice.
My personal favourites are the Ramen if I’m hungry a wonderful deal for the students across the street at only €15. Then in the evening the sashimi mix 18 pieces at only €28, maybe with the tempura of five tiger prawns lightly cooked with a very tasty sauce.
But the final secret is the desserts. The panna cotta is as fine as any grandmother would make in Italy, and the ice cream (either the Bocconcini six pieces to share, or the Mattonella – which probably you will not want to share!) are as good as it gets.
Opening hours: 12 noon to 15.00, 19 to 22.30 closed Sunday
