Kraftwerk Play Monaco in November

The importance of Kraftwerk in the history of dance music & indeed music itself, can not be underestimated. Their distinctive sound continues to influence artists across many genres and  The Observer,  went as far to say that “no other band since the Beatles has given so much to pop culture”. The German outfit received further recognition of their contribution when in January 2014, the Grammy Academy honoured Kraftwerk with a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Minimalistic, repetitive and strictly electronic – the Kraftwerk sound first appeared in Dusseldorf in 1970. 45 years later, only one of the original line up remains – the secretive Ralf Hütter who formed the band with Florian Schneider when they are students at the  Robert Schumann Hochschule. The band itself is also notoriously reclusive; having used life-size mannequins and robots to conduct official photo shoots, refusing to accept mail and not allowing visitors to their Kling Klang Studio, the exact location of which they used to keep secret.

However, we are happy to make no secret of the fact that Kraftwerk will be arriving in Monaco on the 11th of November and performing at the Sporting Monte-Carlo. Their live performances have become almost as famous as their music and they will be gracing us with a spectacular 3D gig. All concert-goers will be handed a pair of 3D glasses before taking their seats. Don’t, however, expect fireworks and pom-pom dancers. Like their music, the show will be credible, artistic, thought provoking and their appearance in jumpsuits can morph from anonymous businessmen to robots.
