Sabrina, the queen of niche

Like top restaurateurs or professional musicians, interior designers have the amazing ability to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary. One of the best-known Monaco firms is Sabrina Monte-Carlo, who offer a complete, bespoke design service for clients all over the world. Ludovica Cosso went to speak to founder and director Sabrina Monteleone-Oeino to find out more about the company.

LC: Hi Sabrina – could you start by telling us more about the history of the firm?

Sabrina: I had an exciting career in the fashion industry that took me from all over the world, from the South of France to Miami Beach, but in 1999 I decided to dedicate myself to interior design. It started out as (and still is) a family company, but now we also have a team of 30 talented professionals, ranging from graphic designers to fabric specialists, interior designers to tableware experts. This all means that the company can cater to any request – however small or large – while guaranteeing the highest quality.

LC: And you’re based right here in Monaco?

Sabrina: Our main offices and showroom are here, but we also have showrooms in nearby Saint-Jean-Cap Ferrat.  What may surprise even our Monaco-based clients, however, is that we also have projects across the world, including contemporary villas in the French Riviera, grand palaces in the Middle East and even chalets in the Swiss Alps!

LC: So it’s not just about decorating apartments?

Sabrina: Absolutely not – though of course we do develop interiors around the globe. But we also offer design services to the most exclusive projects, including private residences, yacht interiors and private jets. As a company, our team has years of invaluable experience and expertise to ensure that every client’s vision is fully realised.

LC: What makes you different from other interior design companies?

Sabrina: Our extensive team offers a creative and extensive skillset, meaning we don’t just have one ‘niche’. We’re willing and excited to take on a wide-range of different projects; each one is united by the unique Sabrina Monte-Carlo touch! Then (as I mentioned before) Sabrina Monte-Carlo remains at heart a true family business, with my sister and two daughters being part of the team, each bringing with them years of experience and study. This family element also brings an invaluable charm to the business.

LC: Finally, what to you is the key to the business’s success?

Sabrina: It’s a combination of factors. My background in fashion has given me a sharp eye for detail and fabric expertise. But it’s also all about my love of the Mediterranean lifestyle, from which I draw much of my inspiration. I like to think that this special and personal blend gives the brand an eclectic and refined style.
